Yes it’s still spring, and yes the weather is still on the grey and unpredictable side, so why not brighten your day by looking ahead to a colourful summer trend?

Colour block prints have long been an easy way to wear bold shades that contrast yet co-ordinate. This season the catwalks demand we make a bit more effort.

The runways have been awash with separates in bold, clashing colours, and while this seems a daunting look to pull off, with a little help from a simple colour wheel, it can be done.

A colour wheel, if you’re not familiar, is one of these...

The principle is that colours on opposite sides of the wheel work really well together, as do colours that sit directly next to each other. So by using the colour wheel, you really can’t go wrong.

Here are some examples...

Refer to the colour wheel and you’ll find coral and sky blue directly opposite each other, which means this lightweight jacket is the perfect way to compliment our cold shoulder shift dress.

Purple and green are also opposites, which ironically also makes them a perfect match! Put this dynamic duo together with our palazzo trousers and dipped hem tunic.

Go for a more tonal clash by choosing neighbours from the colour wheel. Team this raspberry pink sleeveless jacket with a bright red dress for a (slightly) more subtle take on the colour clash trend.
